Today I took ten official reasons from the real-life letters about non-Endorsement. It is a piece of sad news to get such letter after such laborious preparations for Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa application. That’s why to avoid getting this unlucky decision; you must check your visa application regarding its compliance with the issues mentioned below.
1. Evidence about innovation
Little evidence a proven track record of innovation in the digital technology sector director or an employee.
One of the two critical criteria has to be met. You can demonstrate evidence for two principles simultaneously, but you cannot avoid this step at all. Perhaps, you have a question of what can be a “proven track record”? In general, it is an extract of your employment contract. You cannot apply the whole document since it is not required, and in most cases, it has too many pages. That is why you can add evidence like a letter from the employer, extract of an employment agreement or any other official reference. They must clearly state your company, position, salary, duration of work, etc.
2. Out-of-job recognition
Internal achievement certificates in the company, awarded by the applicant’s employer, cannot be considered in any way to be a form
of recognition outside their immediate occupation.
If you get a Certificate gifted by your company’s CEO to you because you are the most talented and skilled person in the team – this does not mean your excellence among all other digital experts.
What I mean – this certificate will add you some value as one of 10 supporting documents. But this proof is too weak to show the high level that you have achieved outside your work. You need something else.
3. Extra-curriculum activities
Nor is there substantial evidence of recognition for work outside their immediate occupation.
A very similar reason to the mentioned above, but it is related to your routine job. Many applicants made this mistake: they provide two Letters of Recommendation from the managers of their own companies.
Or sometimes they attach ten supporting documents related only with their work experience in a current (or previous) company. You must diversify your materials as much as possible to demonstrate your ability to influence many people.
4. High level of achievements
Based on the evidence presented from the Advanced Marketing course, the applicant just barely met the pass threshold.
If you want to add any certificate or other evidence of achievement – care about the level of it. You cannot add a document with average (or minimal) score and claim that you are an Exceptional Promise (or even Exceptional Talent). Sometimes it is better to avoid applying document that can decrease the level of your visa application.
5. Support of key criteria
No meaningful evidence to support the required vital criteria.
If you will provide vital documents for qualifying criteria but not key criteria docs – you will get non-Endorsement. And vice versa.
These two types of evidence are related and dependent on each other. Hence, it is better to apply as much proof as you can and do not hope that your talent will be seen between the lines. You need to show documents.
6. Problems with Letters of Recommendation
The letters of recommendation are mostly generic, speaking to the applicant’s skills and temperament and fail to provide specific examples of innovation.
One of my most “favourite” topics. Many future applicants for Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa are seeking for a C-suite level manager to get a Letter of Recommendation. As I know, they even provide an example sometimes. But not too many people are successful in this process. Since usually, the text of such letters is copy-pasted from the first result of a search engine search.
Mainly, such letters write about experienced experts, many years of real experience and hard-working type of behaviour. But nothing specific. And this is an apparent reason why the letter becomes generic. To avoid this problem, ask your trusted signer to write about your projects and contributions, your very unique skills and experiences.
7. Not enough achievements
The applicant’s track record was not sufficiently strong to be endorsed under Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent).
You cannot work ten years as a junior and middle-level programmer in an average-size SME with 20 employees and without significant documentary proof get Endorsement.
If your professional career was not shining by big names like Google or IBM, but you were a star out of your everyday job – it is excellent. But you cannot be an ordinary person and get this visa; you must do something professionally unusual and challenging and provide supporting documents about that.
8. Unique and the only one
It is clear the applicant is well regarded, but there is a need for clear evidence that the applicant’s achievements are in some way exceptional
This reason is related to the previous question but was granted to a person with the right expertise in his field and a senior-level position. However, well-paid salary and status without any exceptional achievements are not a reason to give Endorsement as Exceptional Talent.
9. Superpower is required
Although the applicant may have undertaken several courses, the results do not place him in a top 1% position that might indicate a superior talent.
One hard-working, always-Coursera-studying, in mid-’30s engineer, tried to get Tier 1 Exceptional Talent (not Promise) Visa because he worked in Fortune 500 company and thought this is enough to get his legal ticket to the UK. According to this reason – not enough.
You should not be a student of online courses or any other educational platforms all the time. You must implement your knowledge somewhere in real life. And only this will grant you Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa Visa.
10. Correlation between experience and talent
While the candidate does seem to have significant experience in the IT sector, the candidate’s relevant experience specifically in mobile applications development is not corroborated in the evidence, neither through ‘innovation’ in the proof of concept noted, nor the potential commercial impact of said innovation
This reason was unique, but I put it here just in case – to demonstrate the direction of thoughts when the Endorsement Panel is assessing a visa application. You must understand that this is not a charity organisation which purely wants to make the UK one of the countries with the most significant number of talents.
They must endorse talents who will generate value and financial impact for the whole UK economy. Ask someone to assess your skills and projects on this point to understand your weak points before Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visa application.
